Institute for Excellence

The Institute for Excellence (IFE) offers college-bound first-gen students the unique opportunity to earn college credit and engage in college-level research before enrolling in college. This hybrid program, offered both virtually and in-person, exposes students to diverse post-secondary academic pathways and provides hands-on research experience with faculty from various fields. Partnering with colleges at Mason, including the College of Science, College of Education and Human Development, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Costello School of Business, Schar School of Policy, and Northern Virginia Area Health Education Center, IFE equips students with dynamic learning opportunities, enabling them to explore their interests and pursue their academic and career goals at Mason, Virginia's largest public research university.
