Academic Success Coach for Fall 2020 - VIRTUAL POSITION

Academic Mentoring Program (AMP) is our academic mentoring component essential to the success of our students in seven different counties throughout Northern Virginia.

Job Responsibilities: 

    • Provide academic assistance to middle and high school students in all subjects and levels of English, Math, Science, and History
    • Provide strategy on successful study habits needed to attain academic success 
    • Facilitate College and Career Readiness curriculum to a small group of students through online activities and discussions focusing on personal and academic success
    • Actively monitor students’ academic grades/progress via weekly check in meetings 
    • Provide classroom and group management to students virtually
    • Serve as a positive and supportive role model
    • Commit to being present and passionate about making a difference in our students
    • Submit a weekly report summarizing meetings with academic groups and assigned students, and inform professional staff members of any concerns as it pertains to students' academic performance and/or well being 
    • Be early to AMP sessions, which are held via Mason’s Blackboard Collaborate Ultra on a weekly basis 
    • Manage administrative tasks such as handling paperwork, tracking attendance, calling students, and communicating with parents regarding the academic mentoring session on a regular basis
    • Ability to complete online forms, effectively manage time, and attend assigned virtual training and in-service meetings: Mandatory trainings: 9/24 & 9/25, and Mandatory team huddles: 10/16, 11/16, & 12/4

STEM Fusion Specialist for 2020-2021 - VIRTUAL POSITION

STEM Fusion is our enrichment program designed to strengthen students understanding of scientific and mathematical concepts while also providing students the opportunity to explore careers in STEM, Health Science, and other career exploration options.

Job Responsibilities

    • Provide individual and group academic assistance to middle and high school students  
    • Knowledge in Math, Science, Game Design, Cybersecurity, and/or Health Science
    • Serve as a positive and supportive role model  
    • Commit to being present and passionate to make a difference  
    • Responsible and excellent time management skills   
    • Collaborate with teachers for a positive online learning environment 
    • Provide individual tutoring services to assigned students 
    • Communicate with assigned students regarding Blackboard access 
    • Assist with the following admin work: tracking student completion of Risk Forms, add/remove student usernames to courses 
    • Must attend virtual Mandatory training: 10/17, and Mandatory all STEM Fusion sessions:  11/7, 12/5, 2/6, 3/20, & 4/17
