Academic Success Coach for Spring 2021 - VIRTUAL POSITION

The Academic Success Coach (ASC) will play an integral role in supporting the delivery of academic supports needed for academic
and personal success. These supports comprise of tutoring, mentoring, coaching, and ultimately helping EIP students realize their
academic potential. The ASC will provide weekly reports directly to the Assistant Director for College Readiness and the Coordinator
for Outreach, Engagement, and Student Transition. The ASC will be a virtual position for Spring 2021.

Duties Include:

Academic Support

  • Provide academic assistance to middle and high school students in all subjects and levels of English, Math, Science,
    and History
  • Provide strategy on successful study habits needed to attain academic success
  • Facilitate College and Career Readiness curriculum to a small group of students
  • Actively monitor students’ academic progress through monitoring of grades through student groups and one on
    one sessions
  • Provide classroom and group management to students virtually or in-person

Administrative

  • Submit a weekly report summarizing meetings with academic groups and assigned students, and inform
    professional staff members of any concerns as it pertains to students' academic performance and/or well being
  • Be early to AMP sessions, which are held via Mason’s Blackboard Collaborate Ultra on a weekly basis
  • Facilitate phone calls to assigned students to provide weekly reminder and request missing form
  • Ability to complete online forms, effectively manage time, and attend assigned virtual training and in-service
    meetings
  • Mandatory trainings: 2/10, 2/11, & 2/12
  • Mandatory team huddles: 3/5, 3/26, & 4/16
  • Provide classroom and group management virtually and in person

Mentoring & Relationship Building

  • Serve as a positive and supportive role model for students
  • Commit to being present and passionate about making a difference in our students’ lives
  • Provide check-ins around students’ academic and personal progress
  • Build and nurture relationships with college bound first generation students
  • Be able to motivate students and aid in their planning and meeting of personal and academic goals

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Undergraduate/graduate college students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50
  •  Access to reliable internet network
  • Access to a computer with a working video camera and microphone
  • Strong work ethic and flexibility
  • Willingness to work with and an understanding of middle and high school populations
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple requests
  • Be self-motivated, have strong communication skills and driven to produce results
  • Prior tutoring and mentoring experience
  • Experience working in a virtual environment
  • Be able to work with minors and pass a Mason background check in addition to county/school background checks

STEM Fusion Specialist for 2020-2021 - VIRTUAL POSITION

STEM Fusion is our enrichment program designed to strengthen students understanding of scientific and mathematical concepts while also providing students the opportunity to explore careers in STEM, Health Science, and other career exploration options.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group academic assistance to middle and high school students
  • Knowledge in Math, Science, Game Design, Cybersecurity, and/or Health Science
  • Serve as a positive and supportive role model  
  • Commit to being present and passionate to make a difference  
  • Responsible and excellent time management skills   
  • Collaborate with teachers for a positive online learning environment 
  • Provide individual tutoring services to assigned students 
  • Communicate with assigned students regarding Blackboard access 
  • Assist with the following admin work: tracking student completion of Risk Forms, add/remove student usernames to courses 
  • Must attend virtual Mandatory training: 10/17, and Mandatory all STEM Fusion sessions:  11/7, 12/5, 2/6, 3/20, & 4/17
