Student Voice: Taking Aim at a Career Behind the Camera
One day in the future, when you are watching the credits roll after the nightly news, you might see “Cameraman: Andrew Finian.” An EIP Senior who attends George Mason High School, Andrew has set his sights on a degree in film communications and a career as a television cameraman and editor. While already practicing his craft by volunteering at Falls Church City TV and filming the City Council meetings, Andrew recently moved a significant step closer to achieving his goal when he received a scholarship from the Children’s Defense Fund. The scholarship is given to students who have overcome major challenges to succeed in school.
Andrew credits EIP with significant help in moving him towards his college dream. “I also really enjoyed meeting new people at EIP who share my interests,” he said. Andrew’s current college choice is Lynchburg College, which has a respected program in communications and television production.
